Reality Is Found In Christ

Updated: Jun 18, 2021

These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Colossians 2:17

We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

2Corinthians 4:10

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Colossians 3:4

Our life in Christ is a life of transformation. This transformation is from a carnal life to a supernatural life. Our new life in Christ is our divine reality. We are no longer just natural human beings but new creations of God. Due to our new spiritual birth which is from above we have become God's offspring - children of the Spirit of the Lord, born through the seed of the incorruptible Word of God.

There is no short cut to this life of transformation. Transformation is a process that requires the working of all nine fruits of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In Christ we are well-equipped by the Holy Spirit to undergo this metamorphosis. We now have the forbearance of God Himself within us to be able to withstand all spiritual and fleshy resistance to this divine transformation.

At the moment of our salvation we are thrust into a glorious transformation - to be conformed to our new reality - the Christ reality. As we behold our Saviour we are becoming transformed by the Holy Spirit to be conformed to His image. The purpose is so that we can serve God acceptably in the Spirit of Christ - that His life alone be lived through us. This is a daily picking up of the cross of Jesus and allowing the Holy Spirit to mortify the nature of the flesh (Romans 8:13). This is how we become totally free from the bondages of the flesh and live in the liberty of the Holy Spirit. The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus sets us free from the law of sin and death (Romans 8:2).

The way we yield to this process of transformation and glorious appearance of the Christ life within us, is by reckoning ourselves dead to sin and alive to God. We disallow sin to reign in our mortal bodies and yield our bodies as instruments of righteousness to God (Romans 6:11-13). To the outer man this is not an easy process to undergo but by the power of the Holy Spirit we, just like Apostle Paul, choose to die daily so that the life of Christ be made manifest in us and through us (1Corinthians 15:31).

Take courage today and yield to this process of transformation. Trust the leading of the Holy Spirit in this renewal work. He knows how to disclose Jesus to you and to conform you to your Loving Master. Allow His Life to be seen through you today!
