Hope In God Never Disappoints!

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Romans 5:5

There is never a better time than now to trust in God! Trusting in God is what we are always to do. Yet at times it seems that to trust solely in God is our last resort - when all else fails then we decide to put our full hope in God. The Greek word for trust is elpis. Elpis is also the Greek word for hope. Therefore trust and hope are the same expression of our heart's confident expectation of God.

The author of Hebrews writes in chapter 11:1, that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith in God rests on hope in God and is the assurance of the tangibility of that which we trust God for. Trust and hope in God is what gives our faith substance. Apostle Paul writes that this hope in God does not disappoint (Romans 5:5). This God-hope is based on the truth of the Word of God and is fueled by the power of the Holy Spirit. Our hope in God is backed up by the love of God - the love of God that has been freely poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.

Is there something that is getting you down? Is there anything that has disappointed you? Then hope in God. Everything that is in and of this world is bound to fail as it is not backed up by the love of God. The system of the world is ruled by the devil's fear. Therefore the only fail-proof reality that we have is found in God and in His Word. We know that God is love and love never fails.

We can be confident in our hope and trust in God. We have His assurance of complete fulfilment of His promises to us. The Bible tells us that all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen (2Corinthians 1:20). Christ is the 'Yes!' of God to us. There is no disappointment in Christ because there is no lie in His Word, and there is no failure in His love! Thus there is no better time to trust God than now.

Today be as the father of faith, Abraham, who against all worldly hope - hoped in God and was not disappointed. Abraham received that which God had promised him, because he counted God faithful to fulfill His Word. When you put your full trust and hope in God you will see God do the impossible for you!
