Forward Is The Way To Go

In the kingdom of God there is only one way. It is the narrow way of Christ. This is the forward way to follow solely after Christ. This way is a denial of all that is of the old carnal way and a total forsaking of self in order to gain Christ! Jesus did say, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me" (Luke 9:23).

The walk of the Christian is a walk of following after Christ. Unfortunately this does not look like any thing that we are familiar with in the world. This is not a broad path that leads to destruction and therefore we can not blame God for reaping from the flesh that which we have personally sown to our flesh. The way of the Christian is not the way of the unbelievers - living in a futile mindset formed by the patterns of the world. Thus when we face the outcome of actions spurred by the unbelief of our unrenewed mind we are to submit our minds to the mind of Christ, by allowing the Word of God to transform us. The Christian life is a life of accountability. It is a life of sobriety and alertness. It is a life submitted to God in advancing the kingdom of God. This is a forward life!

The forward life is the life of a good soldier of Christ. A soldier that is engaged with the plans and strategies of God rather than the affairs of the world that make us shrink back and retreat. This is where doubt and unbelief take a hold of us and stop us from advancing forward in Christ. Do not doubt what God has spoken to you! Bring to remembrance His words to you and spur yourself onward unto faith in His Word. God is not a man that changes His mind. His voice in the Word of God is unchanging and His Word abides forever. Keep yourself accountable to His Word, the way a good soldier will do when a command is given.

This is an hour to move with the movement of God! Follow after Him, do not be like Lot's wife and sorrowfully ponder the great loss or separation from the world you have experienced. This is the time to advance the righteous cause of Christ, to be bold in the declaration of the gospel. Do not look back at how it was or how it could have been. Move forward in the newness of God's moment. Step out in the forward motion of God and do not turn to the right or to the left but keep the course! Just as God commanded Joshua after the death of Moses - "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go" (Joshua 1:7).

Run the race! Continue your firm gaze on Jesus and do not be swayed away from the confidence you had in the beginning when you heard Him say to you: "Follow Me".

Forward is the way to go!
