Do Not Be Afraid Of Evil

Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:1-4

“And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!

“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

We live in a world filled with evil and fear. A world whose master - the devil - is a deceitful fearmonger. Through the power of deception, the devil masterfully subdues the world through fear and keeps it under his dominion, his forced compliance. As long as fear rules the minds of humans, Satan is given a right to rule. The book of Hebrews states it to be so, and thus Jesus had to become a man and destroy the evil grip fear had over man.

Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. (Hebrews 2:14,15)

Unless the Christian believer submits his mind to the Word of God, so that the Word washes away the old patterns of thought inherited from the world, fear based strongholds, the Christian will live life here on Earth still bound by fear, despite being liberated from the dominion of evil. You see, in Christ we have been delivered from the power of darkness and are now part of the glorious kingdom of God. God's kingdom is His dominion, which is fear-free love. In Him we are fully redeemed and forgiven of sins (Colossians 1:13,14). By renewing our minds and setting our thoughts on things that are above - meditating that which is pure, praiseworthy and of good report - we live life above the torment found in this world, As Christians we are not to be afraid of what the world is afraid of.

As soon as we become born again, the Holy Spirit leads us in the Word of God to strengthen our faith and walk in Christ, lest we be deceived by the cunningness of the devil and the evil ways of the world. We are to hold on to our freedom from fear that we have in Christ and to live in the liberty of His love by the power of the Holy Spirit. God's desire for us is that we be filled with His Spirit and overflow with His love, joy, peace and hope. As we make God's desire our desire and He becomes our delight and living hope we draw away from the fearful ways of evil and its master Satan.

Allow the Word of God to live in you richly today so that your faith be strengthened. This is how you make God your delight and walk out confident God-trust on Earth. This is the way we walk in the dominion of God and fear no evil!

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2Peter 1:2-4)
