... be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
Ephesians 4:23,24

Now that we are born again, we have new spiritual clothing in a brand new God closet. This is the closet of the very nature of God that Christ is. The way we clothe ourselves with this new array of garments is by renewing our mind through the meditation of the word of God. As we submit to the glory work of the word of God, and as we allow the Holy Spirit to transform us into greater glory, we are putting on our new creation reality - the very life of Christ.
You see, the old man was clothed in sin and unrighteousness but now we are not to know ourselves after those old tattered garments. We are to put off that old tattered nature of sin and we are to put on new glory garments that are tailor-made in true righteousness and holiness. The word used for 'put on' in the opening verse is the Strong's Greek word 1746 enduo, which is to clothe or be clothed in (in the sense of sinking into a garment), array, put on.
In the book of Colossians, the apostle Paul instructs us in an identical manner, using this same word again - that we are to put off the old sinful ways and we are to put on our new man, and as our mind is renewed through His knowledge (which is His word) we reflect the image of the one who made us - God (Col. 3:8-10).
The Holy Spirit tells us that it is up to us to dress ourselves with the nature of Christ - that as the elect of God, holy and beloved, we are to clothe ourselves with the compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, and forgiveness of Christ (Col. 3:12,13). This is not an automatic action of the Spirit of God. Only when we cooperate with the Holy Spirit and we abide in the word of God to renew our mind, then only do we allow God to show out His nature through us.
Similarly to Adam in the garden of Eden, we now in our new Christ nature, can be clothed with the glory of God. Back in the garden of Eden, God arrayed Adam with spiritual glory garments, and Adam was to keep his spiritual clothes on. Unfortunately, Adam lost his glory array when he listened to the enemy's deceptive voice. Adam believed the lie that told him that he could be like God, when he already was like God. The pride that was in the voice of the enemy made Adam become self-minded. This pride moved him into action and Adam sinned against God. Sin robbed Adam of his glory attire and he became naked. In actuality Adam already reflected the glory of God and he bore the very image of God. This is exactly what deception does - it tells you that you do not have what you already have in Christ.
We too can choose to listen to the enemy's deception and become self-minded. That is when we choose to wear again the old tattered garments that reflect our old nature, rather than choose the attire of the Christ nature that reflects the glory of God and is conformed to His image. Sin keeps us disrobed and naked, away from God's loving presence. When we choose to put on our new-man clothes, Christ Himself, we abide in fellowship with God who is our maker and dresser.
Be aware that you have an enemy that wants to rob you of your glory garments and to keep you in the darkness of his evil presence, away from the light and love of God. Keep the word of God alive in your heart and meditate the life that is found in His word. This is how you wear your glory life garments and how you represent your Heavenly Father gloriously here on Earth.
Clothe yourself and stay clothed in Him because when Christ, who is our life appears, then we also will appear with Him in glory (Col. 3:4).
